Your privacy is important to us. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our website.
1. Data We Collect
We use Vercel Analytics to collect anonymous usage data about how visitors use our website. This may include:
- Pages you visit
- Device and browser type
- General location (e.g., country)
- Referring website
- IP address (anonymized)
- Specific on-site interactions (e.g. map clicks, feature usage) so we can tell which features are actually used
We do not collect personally identifiable information such as your name, email address, or contact details unless you voluntarily provide it (e.g., through a form).
2. How We Use This Data
We use analytics data to understand website traffic and improve user experience. The data is aggregated and cannot be used to identify you personally.
3. Cookies & Consent
Our site uses a cookie to store your consent preferences for analytics. Analytics scripts are only loaded after you accept cookies.
Your consent choice is stored in your browser for a period of 12 months. After this time, or if you clear your cookies, you may be asked again to provide your preference.
You can withdraw your consent at any time by clicking the "Reset consent" button in the settings or by clicking here (irreversible action), which will reopen the cookie banner and let you update your choice.
4. Community Spot Voting
When you up- or down-vote a fishing spot, we store a small amount of pseudonymous data so the same spot can't be voted twice and to prevent abuse (rate limiting):
- A random anonymous ID stored in your browser (a signed cookie). It is not linked to your name, email, or any account.
- Your IP address only as a salted, one-way hash (HMAC). The hash cannot be reversed back to your real IP address, so a vote is not back-traceable to you.
- The vote (positive/negative), the map and the coordinate cell, with timestamps.
This data is processed only by us — there are no third-party processors — and is kept until you delete it. Because it is pseudonymous, it can be erased on request (see your rights below).
5. Community-Imported Catches
In addition to catches reported directly on this site, we periodically import public posts from third-party fishing community groups to seed active-spot data. For each imported post we store the map, coordinates (when disclosed), fish, bait/setup details, the original post text, any attached photos, and the post's publish date, plus when we fetched it.
Where the poster's in-game name is present in the post or extracted from an attached screenshot, we may store it alongside the catch, the same way a directly-reported catch is attributed. This is public data the poster already chose to share in an open community — we are not collecting it about visitors of this site. Imported posts go through the same moderation review as user-submitted catches before appearing on the map, and any screenshots used to fill in details are processed the same way described below (sent to our AI provider, never retained by us). If you believe your post or name shouldn't be included, contact us and we will remove it.
6. Account Login (Discord)
Reporting a catch requires signing in with Discord, so reports are tied to an accountable account rather than an anonymous cookie. When you sign in, we store only:
- Your Discord account id, display name, and avatar image.
- The catches you report while signed in (map, coordinates, fish, and whatever optional details you choose to add).
We deliberately request the minimum Discord permission needed (identify only) and never request or store your email address. This data is used solely to operate this application — to show who is signed in, to prevent spam/abuse on submitted catches, and to let you manage your own account. It is never sold, shared, or used for advertising, and there are no third-party processors involved beyond Discord's own login flow, which you authorize directly with Discord.
The first time you report a catch, you must explicitly accept this Privacy Policy — this is recorded as an acceptance timestamp on your account.
Reporting catches is limited to approved contributors. Requesting access means submitting a short note explaining why you'd like to contribute; this note, along with your Discord name and avatar, is visible only to site moderators/admins while your request is reviewed. Once you're approved, moderators/admins also review each catch you report (map, coordinates, fish, and any details you added) before it appears publicly — this is the same small trusted group, never a third party.
Optionally, you can use "autofill from photos" to speed up filling the report form — add one or more photos (links you paste and/or files you upload), such as the catch, the map/coordinates screen, or your gear menu. Each photo is sent to our AI provider (Anthropic) purely to read details off it — photos are never saved by us, and an uploaded file never leaves your request; none of them are attached to your report or stored anywhere. The AI may also read an in-game player name shown in a screenshot to help pre-fill that field. We only keep a record that an attempt happened (your account, an IP hash, and a timestamp), plus the AI model used, token counts, and the estimated cost of the request — purely for our own internal cost/usage tracking, to prevent abuse of this feature and never shared externally.
To handle abuse reports and keep the moderation queue accurate, moderators/admins can also view a consolidated history of a specific account's activity (catches reported, votes cast, autofill attempts) inside the admin panel. This is visible only to the same small trusted group mentioned above and is never shared with or accessible to third parties.
7. Your Rights
Our analytics provider (Vercel) processes only aggregated, anonymized data that cannot identify you, so there are no individual analytics records to access or delete.
For community spot voting, we store the pseudonymous data described above. Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) you can erase it at any time:
- Self-service: open Settings → “Your spot votes” → “Delete my votes”. This removes every vote tied to your anonymous ID.
- Or email us your anonymous ID (shown in Settings) and we will delete the associated records.
To delete your RF4 IT account (the one created here when you signed in with Discord), open this site's Settings → Account → “Delete my account” at any time. This immediately and permanently deletes your RF4 IT account and login data from our database — you are signed out everywhere. Your actual Discord account is not affected in any way: we never had access to it, only to the basic profile info listed above. Catches you previously reported stay on the map (they remain useful, anonymous community data with no personal information in them), but are unlinked from your account: nothing afterwards ties them back to you.
You can also withdraw analytics consent at any time using the cookie banner or the “Change cookie settings” option.
